Polish president Lech Kaczynski has presented his country's Medal of Honor to Ra'anana Symphonette general director Orit Fogel-Shafran. The Ra'anana Symphonette is in Poland for a series of commemorative concerts honoring the late Irina Sendler, a Polish social worker who, together with her band of dedicated volunteers, saved 2,500 children from the Warsaw Ghetto. The ceremony in Warsaw was attended by many of those who saved Jews during World War II, Mrs. Kaczynski, Poland's chief rabbi and Israel's ambassador to Poland, David Peleg.
