Singer-songwriter Anat Damon, one of the country's pioneering English-language musicians, succumbed to cancer this week. Damon was in her 40s.
She succeeded both in Israel and abroad with her contemporary rock. Her 2003 debut album, Falling, was awarded a laudable four-star rating by All Music Guide, the broadest music reference source on the planet.
Among Damon's many performances abroad, she appeared at the CMJ Marathon, New York's premier music industry conference, as well as at the prestigious MIDEM world music market. Before going it alone, Damon managed the bands Sanhedrin and RockFour. Three years ago, she cofounded the record label Anova, which helped alternative musicians gain audiences.
