Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is diving in to a popular social media trend by switching out his Facebook profile picture to one of an Israeli comedian whose trademark act is an impersonation of the prime minister.
To mark "doppelgänger" week on Facebook, Netanyahu has joined the plethora of Facebook users and replaced his image with that of a famous lookalike – in his case Mariano Idelman, a member of the Israeli satirical show Wonderful Country (Eretz Nehedret) whose impression of the prime minister as a bumbling and clumsy fool has won over Israeli audiences.
Doppelgänger week is celebrated in the first week of February, having started in 2010 by American facebook user Bob Patel, who was constantly told that he looks like Tom Selleck.
