1. The Avengers is bound to be this summer’s hit movie. The 3D actionpacked sci-fi adventure brings together a team of superhumans forming The Avengers, who set out to save Earth from Loki and his army. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson, at theaters around the country.

MIXED BAG

2. WINE AT SUNSET
Celebrating the Galilee and Golan Wine Route events next week, the Odem Mountain Winery and the Shelef route invite visitors to join their guided tours at sunset. The tours start at the vineyards on the slopes of Mount Hermon, continue to the boutique winery and end with a tasting of the wine.

3. Mevashlim 2012, the largest baking and cooking exhibition in Israel, is back for the third time, and it’s a treat for all foodies.

This year there will be 70 producers and importers of food and food-related gadgets, revealing the secrets of the local food scene, including those known only to chefs and food critics. Try the gadgets and taste the food.

4. FOUR TO TANGO
Members of the Pitango Quartet, the local ensemble that plays pure traditional tango, get together to tour the country with sweeping tangos.

GYPSY MAGIC

5. The Gipsy Reyes – the original Gipsy Kings founder Antonio Reyes and his group of top musicians – return to Israel with an evening of rumba and flamenco as part of this year’s Aviv Festival in Rishon Lezion.

With hits such as “Bamboleo” and “Un Amor,” satisfaction is guaranteed.

DANCE

6. IN GOOD COMPANY
American dance troupe Company E (formerly City Dance Ballet) is touring Israel as part of the Herzliya Arts Center’s dance series, showcasing past pieces by Paul Taylor, Kate Weare and Paul Emerson, as well as a premiere of Israeli choreographers Guy Behar and Sharon Eyal.

Tonight at the Herzliya Arts Center at 9 p.m.; tomorrow at the Beersheba Arts Center at 8:30 p.m.; Saturday at the Haifa Auditorium at 9 p.m.; Monday at the Jerusalem Theater at 8:30 p.m.; Tuesday at Heichal Hatarbut in Modi’in at 8:30 p.m.

7. SIGHTS ONSITE
Go on a scavenger hunt through the streets of Tel Aviv in a new art event, the Talooy Bamakom Festival. Part of Art Week, the festival is a performance-art event that takes place at storefronts, on city buses and in coffee shops. Highlights include Shaken, which will take place in the Alexandria Café on Yehuda Halevi Street; and Q, an installation piece at the Municipality building in Rabin Square.

AN ANIMATED AFFAIR

8. The annual Animix Festival of animation, comics and caricature will be held this year in Arad in the Negev. Visitors can expect three days full of shows, panel discussions, exhibitions, animated films, workshops and much more. Top artists are expected to attend the central debate, which focuses on censorship. An intriguing exhibition on the subject of the prime minister's wife, as well as an evening with local music groups, promises to stir things up.

There will also be programs for kids.

DRUMMING FRENZY

9. The Israel Festival’s opening event is Yamato, the Drummers of Japan, in their show called Gamushara, which will be held in the Amphitheater of the Hebrew University at Mount Scopus. The group of drummers showcases its musical and movement skills in a dynamic, humorfilled event that combines tradition and modernity, rhythm and energy. Two hours, with one intermission.

Next Thursday at 8 p.m.

KIDS

10. BUBBLING WITH BEAUTY
Spanish visual theater magician Pep Bou and his group create a world of brilliant color, airiness and light. Shimmering hand-blown soap-bubble creations, in every shape and size from delicate miniatures to huge, multicolored artworks large enough to envelop a man, converge in a mix of concert and dazzling spectacle. Not just for kids.
