Toward the end of October, famed dancer and actor Mikhail Baryshnikov will pay his third visit to Israel. Always one for reinvention, Baryshnikov will be wearing the hat not of a performer but of a photographer during his stay.

Three years ago, Baryshnikov and dancer Anna Laguna performed a series of evenings throughout the country. Then, last season, he returned to act in Dmitry Krymov’s drama In Paris.

In an exhibition at the Suzanne Dellal Center entitled “Dance My Way,” Baryshnikov’s photos of numerous international artists will be on display for several days.

Throughout the course of his long career in the limelight, Baryshnikov has collaborated with celebrated dance artists from a wide range of movement genres. In recent years, he has been known to arrive in the studio with a camera in tow.

The event will culminate with an auction of all the photographs, with the proceeds going to support emerging Israeli choreographers. Hadas Maor, a leading curator in the Israeli fine arts community, will curate the auction, as well as the exhibition.

The exhibition will be open to the public and will be free of charge. This project is part of a larger initiation of the Suzanne Dellal Center called Photodance, which promotes and presents dance photographers from around the world.

“Dance My Way” will be on display from October 24-27.

The auction will take place on October 27 at the Yaron Yerushalmi Hall of the Suzanne Dellal Center in Tel Aviv.
