Cameri actor Oded Teomi will receive a Life Achievement Award at the annual Israel Theater Prize ceremonies to be held on May 13 at the Gesher Theater.Teomi, 73, has been with the Cameri Theater since 1958 and has played some 100 roles that read like a who’s who of classic and contemporary theater. They range from Trigorin in The Seagull, Richard III, and Dr. Stockmann in Enemy of the People to the Admor in Sheindele, Nils Bohr in Copenhagen and currently Solness in The Master Builder. He has also appeared in his own shows, such as Signs and Wonders.The craggily handsome, soft-spoken Teomi is a thoughtful, intense and focused actor who reaches deep into the character he’s playing, thereby drawing in his audience.Born and raised in Tel Aviv, Teomi decided to become an actor in honor of his actor father, Meir, who was killed by terrorists while performing in 1947.The 2007 Avraham Ben-Yosef Prize for Teomi’s portrayal of Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman is among his many awards.
