‘THE GUILT TRIP’
As inventor Andy Brewster (Seth Rogen) is about to embark on
the road trip of a lifetime, a quick stop at his mother’s house turns into an
unexpected cross-country journey, with Mom along for the ride. The Guilt Trip,
Anne Fletcher’s new comedy, with Barbra Streisand as the Jewish mother, is a
must.

ENJOY BRITISH HUMOR
One of the highlights on the roster of this year’s British
Film Festival (January 31-February 10) is A Liar’s Autobiography: The Untrue
Story of Monty Python’s Graham Chapman, an intricately crafted animation work by
Ben Timlett, Jeff Simpson and Bill Jones as a salute to the late
comedian.

TAKE THE LEAD
The Schubertiada goes on its annual
Winter Trip in eight venues around the country. This year Graham Johnson
(pictured), a leading authority on German lieder, will be a guest of the
festival dedicated to this form of music.
Johnson will participate in
three concerts and present master classes.

KIDS MEET AN ANGEL
The Angel (Hamalach), based on a book by Ephraim Sidon, is a
play for children aged five and up about an angel who escapes from heaven and
comes to Earth as a baby.

INDULGE IN FRENCH CUISINE

French So Good is the first festival of French gastronomy, with 11 leading chefs
cooking together with their local colleagues. There will also be a
discussion forum, chef master classes and workshops and food tours around the
country. Other attractions include the “Food & Art” photography exhibition
at the French Institute, a book fair, a wine tasting, a premiere screening of
the film Les Saveurs du Palais about chef Danièle Delpeuch, who will be a guest
of the festival, and much more.

8. ART
LEARN ABOUT BEADING
A gallery talk by curator Dorit Shafrir will take place
at the Israel Museum at the exhibition “Beaded Ceremonial Art of the Ndebele,” a
display of ceremonial body ornaments and initiation dolls made by the Ndebele
women of South Africa.

9. ART
BUY ART FOR A GOOD CAUSE
The 14th annual Israeli
art exhibition to raise funds to fight AIDS, hosted by Bank Hapoalim, will take
place next Saturday. Some 800 works by leading artists and art students will be
on display. The artists will receive 17% of the proceeds, and the rest will go
to the Fight AIDS committee in Israel.

10. DANCE
CELEBRATE CHINESE SPRING
Celebrate the Chinese New Year with
the Chinese Spring Dance Festival organized by the Suzanne Dellal
Center.
Two dance companies will present their work. The Beijing Modern
Dance Company (BMDC) will present an evening of classical Chinese dance and
contemporary dance. The Chengdu National Company will present colorful
traditional dance mixed with ancient martial arts.
