Oscar winner Angelina Jolie has signed on to play the widow of Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter beheaded in Pakistan in January 2002 after being forced to "confess" his Jewish background on videotape. The star of Girl, Interrupted and the Tomb Raider movies will play Marianne Pearl, whose book, A Mighty Heart, will be adapted for the big screen production. The book focuses on Pearl's life and the impact of his death on his family - especially on Marianne Pearl, who at the time of her husband's murder was pregnant with the couple's first child. "I am delighted that Angelina Jolie will be playing my role in the adaptation of my book," Marianne Pearl told Variety earlier this week. "I deeply admire her work and what she is committed to."
