1. LAWLESS

The loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the Prohibition era. Based on a true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers, bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American dream in Virginia, the epic tale was inspired by Matt Bondurant’s true-tolife novel The Wettest Country in the World.

Starring: Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Jessica Chastain and Guy Pierce.

EXHIBITION

2. LEARN ABOUT LOCAL JUDAICA

A new permanent exhibition at the Eretz Israel Museum, “Local Judaica,” displays Jewish artifacts produced in Israel between 1880 and 1967.

The exhibit deals with the development of Israeli culture, the changes made by the waves of immigration and their impact on the shape and symbolism of Judaica.

3. LOOK BACK

“Final Sale: The End of Jewish-Owned Businesses in Nazi Berlin” is a new exhibition at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, which has been shown in New York and Berlin. Through the example of 16 Berlin businesses, the exhibition illustrates the process by which Jews were disenfranchised and their livelihoods destroyed.

Humanities Building, Block 4, Mount Scopus campus, Jerusalem. Until December 8.

4. TRACE THE ROOTS

“Common Roots,” a new exhibition at the Museum of Design in Holon, looks at the way design has changed as the political realities in many Central European states developed since the fall of the Iron Curtain.

5. ENJOY THE BEST OF BOTH

A charming initiative of local residents has resulted in a special offer. Have a gourmet meal at Rama’s Kitchen in Nataf and attend a concert with one of the country’s finest pianists, Revital Hachamov, in a beautiful setting. The first concert in the Piano in Nataf series takes place tonight. Dinner will be served from 6 p.m. and the concert will start at 8:30 p.m. (NIS 280). Tomorrow there will be a brunch at 10 a.m. followed by a concert at 12:20 p.m. (NIS 180). Also performing will be Yigal Meltzer on trumpet and the Sapir Quartet.

6. BECOME ACQUAINTED WITH HAYDN T

he next concert in the Tzlilei Kesem series with Nitza Shaul tells the story of composer Joseph Haydn in his youth, who was known in Vienna for his angelic voice but also for his mischievous behavior. As in all the concerts in the series, there will be actors in full costume, dancers, a string quartet and a pianist. In Hebrew.

7. GET CLUED IN BY SHERLOCK

The famous detective helps kids learn about classical music in “Sherlock Holmes – A Mystery in the Concert” by Idit Schechtman.

Holmes, who is a great violin player, is asked to solve a mystery and finds clues in the music. In Hebrew.

November 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Gerard Behar Center, Jerusalem.

8. ASK FOR FORGIVENESS

The 10th season of the Keshet Eilon concert series opens tomorrow at 9 p.m. with “Adon Haslihot” (Lord of Forgiveness), a concert of Jewish gospel music with jazz musicians Iris and Ofer Portugali, an instrumental ensemble and the Gospel Choir (NIS 70 to NIS 80). On the program are prayers and songs. Local residents and guests staying in the area are eligible for reduced tickets. Kibbutz Eilon, Western Galilee.

The Broadway Rabbi Yisrael Lutnick, a band and “Dr. Jazz” Elazar Brandt return with their successful Frankly, Sinatra, which takes a grand look at the good, the bad and the beautiful of the Sinatra phenomenon, with engaging stories, humor and poignancy.

10. REDISCOVER THE BOSSA NOVA

Brazilian-born musician Mariana Da Cruz brings her mix of Sub-Urban new-wave Brazilian music to Israel with two concerts, accompanied by her ensemble. On the program are many bossa nova hits, as well as her own work.
