MIXED 5. FASHIONABLE PLANTS
The Ramat Aviv shopping mall is hosting a show for Tu Bishvat that features 40 plants in pots that are made from recycled materials.
The potted plants in the exhibition, sponsored by Kastiel Design, are outfitted in stylish objects, all ready-made, ecological and recycled. In the picture, a pot dressed in remnants from evening wear by Tamar Ziv.

An exhibition entitled The Spectacle of Lea Nikel presents 50 works by the acclaimed Israeli artist from 1953 to 2005, the year she died. The main motif of the show is her jazz-like improvisations. Gina Gallery’s new exhibition
Jorgelina Flores: Heartbeats of a City presents works by the prominent naïve artist. The paintings in the exhibition concentrate on the everyday life in the streets and port of Buenos Aires.
Characters in costumes often appear in Flores’s works, be they at a massive wedding in a Gothic church, at a chic cocktail reception, on the set of a movie… or at the opening of an art gallery.

Art lovers will not want to miss the pre-museum show of works by acclaimed American-born artist Pamela Levy, who lived in Jerusalem and died in 2004 at age 55. A new photo exhibition is the result of work done by 10 mothers of adult autistic children. “I called it a mum workshop,’ as sometimes we feel like shouting ‘Mum!’” says the workshop developer and curator Shai Ginott, the mother of a 17-year-old autistic daughter. “We edited the albums, reselecting the pictures that were significant for us, and each woman created her own ‘motherhood album.’” The hundreds of photographs that were brought to the workshop as products and featured in the personal albums became the raw material for the exhibition.

Chihiro Iwasaki (1918-1974), one of Japan’s most beloved illustrators, a prize-winning, widely published artist throughout her 30-year career, not only drew for children, but they were also her favorite subject. She painted with a confidence that reflected her expertise in both Japanese Sumi-e ink painting and Western aquarelle. The exhibition is entitled Observation.
