The Armenian Tavern is located in a gorgeous 1000-year-old building that was once part of a Crusader cloister in the Armenian Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City. Located on Armenian Patriarchate Road, the Tavern -- along with theArmenian Museum  is one of the only spots in the Armenian Quarter that’s open to the general public.
As befits its historic location, the Tavern is decorated with warm, traditional, distinctly Armenian touches. The menu consists of Armenian variations on Middle Eastern themes, including meat skewers and kebab; spicy soujouk sausages; basturma, an Armenian version of pastrami that is spiced with hilbeh; lahmajoun meat pizzas; and a range of sandwiches, salads and desserts.
For a sampling of some of the traditional cooking of one of the most mysterious groups in Jerusalem, head on over tothe Armenian Tavern, where good food, a warm atmosphere and beautiful artifacts come together for a memorable, utterly unique dining experience.
