Gil Troy is a professor of History at McGill University, a visiting scholar at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, DC and a Shalom Hartman Engaging Israel Research Fellow in Jerusalem. A graduate of Harvard College and Harvard University, he is the author of six books on American history. These works include See How They Ran: The Changing Role of Presidential Candidates (Harvard University Press, paperback, 1991, 1996), Morning in America: How Ronald Reagan Invented the 1980s (Princeton University Press, paperback, 2005, 2007), Leading from the Center: Why Moderates Make the Best Presidents (Basic Books, 2008), and The Reagan Revolution: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford University Press, 2009). He also co-edited the anthology Living in the Eighties with Vincent Cannato (Oxford University Press, 2009).  This year, he edited and updated the classic multi-volume History of American Presidential Campaigns, originally edited by Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. and Fred Israel, to be published in the summer of 2011. His next book, looking at Daniel Patrick Moynihan and the "zionism is a form of racism" resolution of 1975 will be published by Oxford University Press in January 2013.

Troy writes regularly for The Jerusalem Post, The Canadian Jewish News, and The Jewish Week and is the author of the best-selling Why I Am a Zionist: Israel, Jewish Identity and the Challenges of Today.  He is a contributing writer for Policy Options, has been widely published in the American media, and blogs regularly for the History News Network www.hnn.us.
