Ray Hanania is an award-winning columnist and veteran journalist. A Palestinian living in the United States, his father is from Romema and his mother is from Bethlehem. Hanania has been active in advocating Palestinian and Israeli peace and his columns reflect his unusual perspective which is based on his longtime activism in the Palestinian community and longtime presence in the American Jewish community. His wife and son are Jewish and he often uses humor in his columns to address difficult issues. Hanania has written for many Arab and Israeli newspapers and his columns in The Jerusalem Post are syndicated by Creators Syndicate. He is the four-time winner of the Society of Professional Journalists Lisagor Award, and is the 2010 recipient of the SPJ Sigma Delta Chi Award for Column Writing. In 2007, he was named Best Ethnic American Columnist by the New America Media. In addition to his columns, he hosts a live Chicago radio show that viewers can listen to and watch live on the Internet at www.RadioChicagoland.com. Hanania is the co-founder of the Israeli-Palestinian Comedy Tour (www.IPComedyTour.com).
