Shouldn''t the holy site be an inspiration for coexistence, for cooperation, for spirituality, for respect to the Divinity?
It should.
But then there was this:
Angry Muslim worshipers on Tuesday expelled a senior Fatah official from the Temple Mount compound. The official, Azzam Ahmed, was accompanying a Jordanian delegation on a tour of the compound when worshipers began hurling abuse at him...worshipers called on Ahmed to leave the area...A Fatah activist in the city told The Jerusalem Post...“Had he told us that he was coming, we would have provided him with security and prevented the embarrassing incident,” the activist said. He and other Fatah representatives accused Hamas supporters of being behind the expulsion of Ahmed.
Another eyewitness said that the protesters surrounded the Fatah and Jordanian officials and began chanting slogans against the Palestinian Authority leadership and the Egyptian army.
In a video posted on the Internet, the protesters are heard shouting at Ahmed, “Get out of here!” and “Don’t throw shoes at him because he doesn’t even deserve them.”
What was I thinking?

Dozens of Jewish settlers on Thursday stormed the Aqsa Mosque, while other groups of settlers gathered along the roads leading to the Mosque and performed Talmudic rituals ... a group of settlers stormed the Aqsa Mosque from the Maghareba gate, guarded by large police forces, and toured in its courtyards. Other groups of Jews raided “Souk Qattanin” on the road leading to the Aqsa Mosque, and performed Talmudic rituals...
Rocks came from Al-Aqsa, too.
And also hear these words:
The head of the Islamic movement in the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories, Sheikh Raed Salah, called on the Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims to organize activities in support of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque...Sheikh Salah also urged the Islamic Nation to support and defend Jerusalem... Regarding the possibility of the outbreak of a new intifada (uprising) on the anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Intifada, he stressed that all possibilities are open as long as the occupation continues to escalate its aggression.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Jihad movement called on the Palestinian resistance with all its arms and brigades to get ready for “a battle to determine the future of the city of Jerusalem,” in light of the Israeli continued Judaization plan in the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Daoud Shehab, a spokesman for the movement, told Quds Press commenting on the occupation’s attack on worshipers in Al-Aqsa Mosque: “The Palestinian resistance with its different factions must be ready for this decisive battle,”...
