Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas denied Monday that an agreement he signed with Jordan's King Abdullah to defend Jerusalem and its holy sites was related to the recent visit of US President Barack Obama to the region

Abbas and King Abdullah signed the agreement in Amman on Sunday.

Abbas told reporters in Ramallah that the deal also had nothing to do with the resumption of peace talks between the PA and Israel.
