Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch on Monday said he was not concerned by the threat of a hunger strike, Israel Radio reported.

Aharonovitch's comments come after Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails threatened on Sunday to hold a one-day hunger strike the following day in protest of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's decision to limit certain privileges for the prisoners.

"They can strike as much as they like," he was quoted as saying.

Earlier Monday, the Israel Prison Service said there was no evidence of a hunger strike being staged by Palestinian prisoners at any of the country's prisons.
