Departing IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi said on Monday that he is leaving behind a strong army.

"If I could, I would be happy to bring Ben-Gurion here and tell him how the IDF is breathing life into his vision," Ashkenazi said at a ceremony in his honor at Beit Hanassi. "I finish my job with satisfaction, pride and a feeling of privilege, knowing that the IDF is in good hands.
