Syrian President Bashar Assad said there can not be peace in the Middle East because of the IDF raid on the Mavi Marmara, in a Wednesday interview with the BBC.

"[The flotilla raid] destroyed any chance for peace in the near future," he said, "mainly beacuse it proved that this government is another pyromaniac government, and you cannot achieve peace with such a government."
