ISLAMABAD - Suspected Islamist militants on Friday opened fire on a group of Pakistani Shi'ites in the southwestern town of Quetta, killing at least 8 and wounding 10, police said.

Police official Hamid Shakil said the Shi'ites were in a neighborhood park when they were shot at. The attackers fled, he said.

Sunni Muslim militants often attack Shi'ites, which they view as heretics.
