CIA Director David Petraeus arrived in İstanbul for talks on the ongoing conflict in Syria, as well as the Turkish government's intensifying crackdown on the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), Turkey's Today's Zaman reported Monday.

According to the paper, Petraeus's unannounced visit, his second to Turkey in the last six months, was kept secret for security reasons.

Petraeus is scheduled to meet with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, and National Intelligence Organization (MİT) Undersecretary Hakan Fidan.
