US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in Egypt on Tuesday in the highest-level visit by a US official since Hosni Mubarak, long a Washington ally, was toppled from power by a mass uprising last month.

She plans to meet Foreign Minister Nabil Elaraby, who took office as part of a cabinet reshuffle, and civil society activists.
