Defense ministry requests fire retardant from France

The Defense Ministry has requested a French company to send 60 tons of fire retardant chemicals to help battle the Carmel forest fire in the northern part of the country.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak spoke overnight Friday with France, Italy and Greece and asked to assist with supplying fire retardant chemicals and aircraft to battle the blaze.
