The Israeli military went on high alert in the north Friday evening after an explosion was reported near an IDF patrol along the Israeli-Syrian border, Israel Radio reported.

According to Israel Radio, Israeli soldiers on routine patrol duty just east of the Golan Heights settlement of Neve Atib heard a loud explosion. Reports indicate that it was a mine, although it is unclear if the ordnance was an old mine or one that was deliberately planted to target the soldiers.

The army is investigating.
