Fatah official: Palestinians to apply to 48 more global treaties if peace talks fail

The Palestinian leadership was planning to apply for member in 48 additional international treaties if peace talks with Israel failed to continue past their current April 29 deadline, a Fatah official told Palestinian news agency Ma'an on Sunday.
Fatah Executive Committee member Nabil Shaath said the PLO would not make any further concessions if the current round of negotiations did not yield progress toward the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 lines.
On Tuesday, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas signed 15 international conventions, breaking a pledge not to seek application to join global bodies during the talks. The Palestinian move was made after Israel failed to release a fourth and final batch of Palestinian prisoners.
