Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad on Wednesday said he was prepared to go to Gaza to discuss with Hamas the establishment of a unity government, Israel Radio reported.

Hamas rejected a recent offer by Fayyad to create a unity government that would rule until new elections are held, set for September.

Fayayd also suggested that a unity government would denounce violence against Israel from the West Bank and Gaza, but said that, in his opinion, Hamas could continue to maintain control over Gaza as part of the unity government agreement and until elections are held.
