A truck driver and his passenger set fire to a traffic enforcement camera in Hod Hasharon on Sunday morning after their vehicle was photographed jumping a red light, police said.

The driver, of Kalansawa, and the second man, of Petah Tikva, pulled up at a nearby gas station and purchased bottles of flammable liquids.

To their misfortune, one of the gas station employees was an Israel Police volunteer, who became suspicious of their purchase and reported the suspicious activity.

By the time police arrived on the scene, they found the camera bent out of shape and scarred with fire marks.

The suspects' truck was identified by police patrol units and pulled over soon afterwards, and the two men were detained for questioning.
