Gamal Mubarak, others resign from leadership of Egypt's NDP

CAIRO — State TV says the secretary-general of Egypt's ruling National Democratic Party, Safwat el-Sharif, has resigned in a gesture to protesters carrying out a 12-day-old wave of anti-government demonstrations.

Also on Saturday, the son of embattled Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Gamal Mubarak, reportedly resigned from his post in the NDP as part of a wave of resignations in the party.
