Chief of General Staff Benny Gantz on Wednesday said that following the expected Palestinian bid for recognition of statehood in the United Nations, violence and disturbances may break out.

"We need to be sensitive to developments, and [we need to be] prepared to protect and respond to every threat that stands in our path," Gantz said at a military ceremony, Israel Radio reported.
