ATHENS - Greek police fired tear gas to disperse a small group of youths throwing sticks and bottles on Tuesday during an otherwise peaceful protest by thousands in central Athens against austerity measures.

The rally in Syntagma Square in front of the parliament was called to protest measures being planned as part of an international financial bailout.
