A security guard who attacked an Al Jazeera reporter on Thursday evening at the capital’s Malha Mall was released after posting NIS 5,000 bail. The journalist was sitting with his crew in a coffee shop when he said the guard attacked him without provocation.

The defendant received a 180-day restraining order from the reporter, was forced to give up his weapon and his gun license revoked. He will face further investigation and a possible indictment this week.

The security guard, in his 40s, worked as a guard at the mall’s post office branch.
