United Torah Judaism MK Meir Porush told Israel Radio on Tuesday that the Haredi enlistment bill will create a chasm amongst Israelis and essentially create “two states for two peoples within Israel.”

Porush, who was speaking minutes after the Knesset approved in its first reading a bill that would mandate army conscription for ultra-Orthodox youths, said that senior rabbis will instruct their pupils to opt for jail time instead of enlisting in the Israel Defense Forces if the bill eventually becomes law.
