A photo exhibit on Romania’s Jewish heritage and the Holocaust has disappeared from a subway station in Bucharest less than 24 hours after it was put up, its creators said on Wednesday.

Israeli photographer Shani Bar-On and Austrian journalist Emil Rennert said they were shocked on Sunday to discover that the public exhibition they had unveiled on a walkway at the Piata Unirii the day before had vanished without a trace.

The Romanian embassy in Israel said on Wednesday that it would investigate the alleged incident.
