IDF announces general closure throughout the West Bank

The IDF on Tuesday announced a general closure of all West Bank security crossing ahead of the Rosh Hashana holiday starting midnight Tuesday midnight and until midnight Saturday. The decision was issued by order of Defense Minister Ehud Barak in conjunction with IDF evaluations of conditions on the ground.

During this period, West Bank residents will be allowed to leave and enter the West Bank only for humanitarian or pressing medical matters. Residents granted permission to travel to visit family for the Eid al-Fitr holiday will also be allowed through army checkpoints.

Journalists are reminded to ensure that their government-issued press credentials, passports and visas are valid.
