The IDF injured a Palestinian on the border fence in the northern Gaza Strip on Friday following a disturbance in the area, an IDF spokesperson confirmed.

According to the spokesperson around 100 Palestinians gathered in a security zone along the fence when IDF forces called for them to disperse and fired warning shots in the air. After these dispersion efforts failed the IDF fired and struck  an individual who they identified as a central instigator of the disturbance, the IDF said.

Palestinian media reported that the 27-year-old man was in moderate condition in hospital after sustaining a bullet wound to the foot.
