Tel Aviv police on Tuesday arrested a man they accused of kidnapping his daughter from the custody of his ex-wife in Russia and spiriting her away to Hebron, where he lives as an illegal resident of Israel. The story came to light after police recived a report Tuesday of a man threatening a woman on Ben-Yehuda street in Tel Aviv. When police arrived on the scene, they found a 30-year-old Russian tourist complaining that her ex-husband had absconded to Israel with their daughter. The father denies his ex-wife's kidnapping claim, saying that he had the mother's permission to take their daughter to Israel. The man will be brought before a Tel Aviv court on Wednesday, where police will seek an extension of his remand.
