A Grad rocket fired from the Gaza Strip towards Ashkelon was intercepted by the anti-rocket defense system Iron Dome, one battery of which is deployed just outside the coastal city.

Earlier Sunday, a rocket exploded in an open area of Ashkelon, and three mortars exploded in the Eshkol area. No injuries were reported but power was cut to some areas as a result of the mortar explosions.
