Israeli athlete in Sochi to begin preliminaries; first to compete

The first representative of the Israeli delegation in Sochi, Vladislav Bykanov, will begin qualifying rounds on Monday afternoon, announced Army Radio. He is competing in the 1500 meter speed-skating event.

Semi-finals will be taking place on Monday afternoon followed by the final qualifying rounds before Vladislov can represent Israel in the 1500 race for gold on Tuesday.

On Tuesday figure-skating partners Andrea Davidovich and Evgeni Krasnopolski will also be competing.
