The Italian embassy in Teheran was under siege by dozens of Basij militia members, Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said on Tuesday.

About 100 members of Basij, dressed in civilian clothing, tried to attack the building housing the Italian embassy amid chants of ‘Death to Italy’ and ‘Death to Berlusconi’, Frattini told the Italian senate in Rome.
