Junior faculty and lecturers at universities across the country announced they would stage an open-ended strike after failing to reach an agreement on their conditions with the Committee of University Presidents, Army Radio reported on Monday.
The committee slammed their decision to prevent classes from resuming second semester, saying that "The junior staff has decided to hurt university students without any justification. This announcement ignores all of the agreements we have reached and as far as we are concerned, they were repealed the minute the strike was declared."
