Lapid to Kerry: Despite discord, Israeli-Palestinian peace deal is ultimate interest of both sides

Finance Minister Yair Lapid met with US Secretary of State John Kerry on Friday morning. The two discussed the ongoing peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, US diplomatic efforts in the region and the Iranian nuclear issue.
Lapid thanked Kerry for his role in the peace negotiations and his support for their success. He noted that “despite the disagreements and discord still ahead, a peace agreement is ultimately in the interest of both sides”.
The finance minister also stressed that Israel was hoping for a final agreement between world powers and Iran that would prevent the Islamic Republic from obtaining nuclear weapons.
