Liberman warns of next cycle of violence with Hamas, as it builds road near border

Yisrael Beytenu chairman Avgidor Liberman accused the government of burying its head in the sand, after Hamas recently announced it was building a road some 250 meters from the Israel-Gaza border.
"The writing is all over the wall," Liberman said on Saturday, referring to remarks made by a Hamas official that the construction was being prepared for "a convenient time" to "attack" Israel. The route is being built across from the Nahal Oz area, something Liberman said could lead to the next round of violence.
Should an attack ensue, the former foreign minister said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon will be solely responsible. "The prime minister insists on staying deaf," he added, even "as Hamas proclaims its intentions from a megaphone."
An investigative committee probing such an incident "will not have to dig deep or into secret protocols...but only look to Hamas' public statements."
Liberman also said Netanyahu should quickly "come to his senses" and do whatever it takes to eradicate the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip. "True leadership needs to know how to deal with threats before it's too late."
