Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, currently attending a meeting with European Union foreign ministers in Brussels, spoke both with his New Zealand counterpart Murray McCully and Israel's ambassador to the country Shemi Tzur following the 6.3 magnitude earthquake which struck the city of Christchurch on Tuesday.

Lieberman reiterated Israel's offer of any assistance to the government of New Zealand, and thanked McCully for the government's efficiency in helping locate Israelis in Christchurch.

Tzur said that no one was injured at the Israeli embassy.
