Former Kadima party leader Tzipi Livni will announce her retirement from politics on Tuesday, according to close associates cited by Israeli media reports on Tuesday.

Livni lost to current Kadima party leader Shaul Mofaz last month in her bid to maintain leadership over the party.

She has maintained a virtual media blackout since losing the election stating that she needed time to consider her options.
