Government Services Minister Michael Eitan (Likud) warned Israeli citizens on Sunday to avoid participation in an experiment to create a biometric population registry and identity system, according to Israel Radio.

Pointing out that no other Western countries have such a database, he said that it's creation could produce a security threat.

The registry would require them to provide their identification numbers and fingerprints.
