Following the airing of an ad on Palestinian television supporting the boycott of Israeli goods that was shown to be sponsored by the Spanish Government, deputy speaker of the Knesset MK Majallie Whbee on Wednesday said that the Spanish sponsorship of the ad was "very worrying."

"As head of the parliamentary association of Israeli-Spanish friendship, working with the Spanish parliament and in the Spanish public to improve Israel's image and strengthen the relations between the two governments, I was surprised to find that the Spanish government backed the TV ad, since Spain is among the countries that is a friend of Israel," the MK said in an official statement..

He added: "The role of these states is to mediate between Israel and the Palestinian authority, to prevent boycotts and increase mutual trust and not to follow paths that trigger divisions."
