Man 'smashed his vehicle into officer on moped'

A resident of Usafiya was arrested on suspicion of deliberately slamming his car into an officer riding a moped on Thursday morning,in an incident described by police as the second attempt to run over an officer in the North within 24 hours.

Police said the suspect, who has a criminal record, spotted the officer while driving along the Carmel Mountain ridge near Usafiya and directed his vehicle at the moped for a head-on collision.

The officer was lightly injured in the incident. Police launched a
manhunt for the suspect, who is in his twenties. He was arrested together
with his brother a few hours later. Police said both men had attempted
to hide the car involved in the incident.
