Gili Golan countersued Knesset Interior Minister Miri Regev (Likud Beytenu), who sued him for libel after he called her a "filthy whore" on Facebook, for NIS 330,000 Sunday, saying that her actions put his life in danger.

Regev "was negligent in publicizing Gili Golan's address on her Facebook page, which turned his life into a nightmare," the lawsuit, submitted to the Haifa Magistrate's Court, reads.

According to Golan's lawyers, Golan, an executive at a television production company, received threatening letters, fled from his home, hired a security guard and "looks over his shoulders in fear.

"This is not just a suit defending the plaintiff, rather it is for the entire Israeli public against a government that seeks to silence, paralyze and impose fear through a lawsuit. This method, used by a hard-working and energetic parliamentarian like Regev can turn into a tool for bullying with grim consequences," they added.
