BALTIMORE — Barbara Mikulski has been re-elected to a fifth term to represent Maryland in the US Senate.

An Associated Press analysis of exit polling data shows the 74-year-old Baltimore resident defeating Republican Eric Wargotz, who is a commissioner in Queen Anne's County.

Mikulski campaigned on her record of bringing home taxpayer dollars, constituent service and leadership on women's rights.

She's been lukewarm on US President Barack Obama. She said he's done a "credible" job but called herself an independent who won't be a rubber stamp for the administration. Mikulski said she disagreed with an administration proposal for oil and natural gas drilling off the Maryland coast.
