Meretz says it's cautiously hopeful of Fatah-Hamas unity

The Knesset Meretz faction expressed cautious hope in light of an announced reconciliation agreement reached between rival Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas on Wednesday.

In a statement, the faction said it hopes the development will help advance the peace process and efforts to return captive IDF soldier Gilad Schalit from Hamas captivity.

The statement further expressed hope that with the new agreement, that Gaza would move in the direction of Ramallah and not vice versa.
