Military team from US to advise Japan on nuke hazards

WASHINGTON - The US Pentagon said on Thursday it was sending a nine-member team specializing in biological and nuclear hazards to advise Japan's military.

Pentagon spokesman Colonel Dave Lapan also said US Defense Secretary Robert Gates had authorized up to $35 million in initial humanitarian assistance to Japan from the US military.
